According to this article, first models of USB 3.0 for PCs will probably ship from Taiwanese PC manufacturers before the end of 2009.

A new SuperSpeed Universal Serial Bus (USB), known as USB 3.0, is about ready for commercial rollout as the next-generation USB interface.

Here are the spec comparecment of all USB flavors:

USB 3.0 - transfer rate of 4.8Gbps

USB 2.0 – transfer rate of 480Mbps

USB 1.0 – Full Speed 12Mbitps

USB 1.0 – Low Speed 1.5Mbps
