All the inpatient people that can not wait for their iPhon OS 3.0 get ready.  The announcement came that UK is getting their upgrade roughly between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM UK time, so that means  software is planned to be released in US by 2:00 PM ET.

So get your phone plugged in and get it ready to synch up when time comes.  But for now sit and relax and wait, or don’t.
